Easter Bonnet Cake
Ingredients
12" white extruded polystyrene foam circle
6" white extruded polystyrene foam dome/plastic tub bottom
tube of white acrylic caulk
bottle of acrylic paint
icing spatula
spool of ribbon
bouquet of small silk flowers
knife
glue or masking tape(if using plastic tub)
Directions
Adhere the extruded polystyrene foam dome to the circular bonnet base using craft glue. If you are using a plastic tub, invert the tub and secure it with tape to the base.
If you are using the plastic tub, cover the entire tub with masking tape; the caulking will adhere better to the tape.
Mix paint with caulking in bowl until you get the desired color for "frosting."
Using the spatula, spread a thin layer of the caulking onto the bonnet. Make sure to cover all of the styrofoam and tape. Let this layer dry completely.
Once first layer is dry, completely frost bonnet. Use the spatula to create a frosting look with the caulking.
Let set until caulking is completely dry.
Tie ribbon around the bonnet and use the flowers as an accent around the ribbon.
